Job Description – Senior Cisco Engineer (Voice / VoIP Administrator)

 

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Cisco Engineer with strong expertise in Cisco Voice (VoIP) Administration and Unified Communications. The ideal candidate should have 8+ years of hands-on experience in managing, supporting, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco Webex calling, Cisco Webex Contact Center (Wxcc) , Cisco Communication Manager, Gateways, and enterprise telephony systems.

The role requires deep technical knowledge of Cisco collaboration platforms, VoIP protocols, dial plan management, and telephony carrier troubleshooting. Candidates with CCNA or CCNP certification will be preferred.


Key Responsibilities

Cisco Voice / VoIP Administration

  • Manage and support Cisco Unified Communications VoIP telephone systems across the organization

·      Design, implement, and support Cisco Webex Calling (Cloud-based PSTN, Local Gateway, Dedicated Instance) solutions.

·      Perform onboarding, migration, and cutover from legacy PBX / CUCM to Webex Calling

·      Integrate Webex Calling with CUCM, LDAP/AD, SSO, and SIP trunking providers

  • Administer Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity Connection, Unity Express, and Cisco Contact Center Express (UCCX)
  • Perform day-to-day operational support, maintenance, configuration, and system upgrades
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco VoIP endpoints, voicemail systems, and voice servers
  • Manage Cisco gateways including SIP, H.323, and MGCP Gateways
  • Support SRST (Survivable Remote Site Telephony) configurations and branch telephony operations
  • Handle Cisco IP Phones, Cisco IP Communicator, and SIP soft phones administration
  • Configure and troubleshoot SCCP/SIP phones and related voice infrastructure

Unified Communications Support

  • Manage dial plan administration, call routing, call accounting systems, and voicemail systems
  • Support Cisco UCCX environments and contact center workflows
  • Work with third-party applications including:
  • Imagical Fax solution
  • Wallboard
  • Ensure system performance, availability, and voice quality optimization

Carrier & Telephony Support

  • Troubleshoot telephony issues directly with TDM/SIP/VoIP carriers
  • Coordinate with telecom providers for outages, escalations, and issue resolution
  • Engage third-party local switch support providers for remote branch offices where non-Cisco switches are used
  • Support PSTN connectivity and enterprise voice infrastructure integrations

Networking & Troubleshooting

  • Work closely with network teams for voice and data network optimization
  • Perform root cause analysis for voice quality issues, outages, and performance concerns
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise standards and security best practices

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Cisco Voice / VoIP Administration
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
  • Cisco Webex Calling
  • Cisco Webex Contact Center
  • Cisco Contact Center Express (UCCX)
  • Cisco Gateways (SIP / H.323 / MGCP)

  • Cisco IP Phones and Softphones
  • Strong understanding of:
  • VoIP protocols (SIP, SCCP, H.323, MGCP)
  • Basic telephony principles
  • Dial plan management
  • Call routing and voicemail systems
  • Experience working with telecom carriers and troubleshooting TDM/SIP/VoIP issues
  • Experience with third-party telephony applications and integrations
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNA or CCNP certification (preferred)
  • Experience in enterprise-scale voice infrastructure environments
  • Exposure to hybrid telephony environments and branch office support
  • Knowledge of voice security and compliance standards
