Robotic process automation not only reduces the labour and process time it helps in enhancing the customer and employee satisfaction. Hence, most of the organizations today are excited to automate their business. RPA comes with its own set of challenges. Coming to this blog, let us examine some of the challenges that organizations face while applying RPA and what are the effective ways to avoid them.

One of the most accepted RPA application challenges is the scramble to get started. In the hurry to reap the rewards of reduced errors, more efficient work, and decreased costs, organizations can sometimes overlook the need to carefully select which processes will benefit most from automation.

One of the easier ways to face RPA challenges is to make sure you have selected the correct task (or set of tasks) that will feasible be enhanced by an RPA solution. These tasks are likely to be repetitive, susceptible to human error, dealing with specific digital information in a specific way, and be of high volume and high priority.

Approach

Firstly analyze the process in various domain whether it is Banking, Hospital and other domains

Shortlist some of the tasks:

  • Payroll, travel reimbursements, and other employee financial transactions
  • Recruitment and onboarding of new employees
  • Finance Department activities (accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing)
  • Processing application forms
  • Managing inventory
  • Creating reports and summaries of organizational data
  • Onboarding vendors

Companies should face the challenge where people use their time to perform non-value tasks such as data entry or invoice processing and bring in RPA solutions. Hence employees can concentrate on decision based roles, fuzzy thinking, and problem solving.

Proper Plan before Implementation

Secondly organizations should know that process automation solutions is not just installing the RPA software, there are a few other aspects as well. It is important to have an operating model whereby there is process integration with IT alongside a robust presence of technology. It is mandatory to opt for a pilot run before implementing the RPA model with the business use case. Also up skilling employees have a vital role to play to make RPA services fortunate. Thus when an operating model along with business use case joined with exact talent is present; organizations should implement and run the RPA model accurate.

Guidance from expert

Sometimes RPA service brings about more expenditure than cost savings. The reason is, primarily, incorrect application. Thus, it is best to get it right at the first instance. In order, to achieve that, organization should hire RPA subject experts. Initially it might come as a large investment but in the long run it saves money and time.

This is because most organizations are legacy bound and find it difficult to adapt to digitization. In this area RPA experts will have a vital role to play. This helps in determining the what ratio of human and bots have to implemented. Subject experts will help in guiding employees so that they can utilise the software once it goes live. RPA experts help fill the gap with IT team of organization. The final result is properly unified RPA solutions into the already existing network and lesser difficulty in transition.

Upkeep recommended periodically

RPA is not like once setup and forget. It needs constant attention. Sometimes, organizations utilize RPA and then forget about it and slowly stop getting ROI as expected. To face such scenarios organizations should assign employees who will make adjustments to RPA systems over time and ensure that the system is running without glitch. Though the changes looks small but it impacts organization in getting finer results. Even a small carelessness can throw off the whole balance. Hence, it is essential for organizations to manage, and analyze the output data and ensure RPA systems are functioning properly as expected.

Conclusion: To conclude, Robotic Process Implementation can be highly beneficial for repetitive and mundane tasks but unless a proper roadmap, and support system is present RPA services can be more detrimental than advantageous.
